The nominal size is the name of the format, such as 60 × 60 cm. The work size is the dimension the manufacturer actually aims for, for example 598 × 598 mm, chosen so that tile plus joint fits a planning module.
The actual size of each tile may differ from the work size within the tolerances the standard allows. Planning a layout starts from the work size on the data sheet, not from the name of the format.
