In through-body, or full-body, porcelain the coloured powders that make the design are part of the body itself. A chip or a worn area shows the same material as the surface.
It is the classic choice for very heavy traffic such as stations, airports and shops. Colour-body porcelain is a related idea: the body is tinted to match a glazed surface so that edges and chips are less visible.
